Alton 8’s has always been a family business, started in 2006 by Tanya and Pete Blackman. The memorable name came from the company’s distinctive telephone number – Alton 88888 – and we’re proud that we’ve kept that same number that so many people know.
For almost 20 years, the Blackman family have made sure that local people could get to where they needed to be with a friendly local taxi company they could trust. So when the Blackmans decided it was time for a well-earned retirement, they looked for a partner to take on the name and that tradition forward.
They chose private hire company Your Local Car, also a family run firm. YLC combines good old fashioned values with the latest technology to provide an excellent level of service. YLC shares resources between individual group companies including backend technology, online booking, local drivers, and real people to answer calls.
